CD Menu is a control panel/extension which allows you to control your audio CDs without that tiresome switching between applications. CD Menu is accessible at almost any time (even from modal dialogs).
To be able to run CD Menu, you must have a computer with Color Quickdraw. This means that it won't work on a Macintosh Plus, SE, Classic or PowerBook 100. System 7.0 or later is required.
User's Guide
This program is a control panel which must be put in the Control Panels folder in the System Folder in order to work. When you have done this, restart you computer. If you haven't changed the settings in the control panel window, you will see a small icon with the word 'CD' in it in the top right of the menu bar. Insert an audio CD into your CD drive and click on this icon. If you didn't release the mouse button right away, a small window with 9 buttons will appear. 7 of these control the normal operation of the CD player and won't need any further explanation. The two buttons in the lower right corner beside the speaker picture control the volume. When you drag the mouse across a button it will be "pushed" and if you release it while still in the pushed state, the command associated with the button will be executed. If you don't want anything to happen, just drag the mouse outside the window and release the mouse button. This applies to all buttons except those performing fast-forward or fast-reverse playback and the volume buttons. If you drag the mouse to one of the fast play buttons, the disc will start to play the disc at a faster rate until you release the mouse button or drag the mouse outside the button. When you drag the mouse to one of the volume control buttons, you will see the small bar above the buttons change along with the volume as long as the cursor is above any of these buttons.
If you double-click the CD Menu icon in the Finder, you will see a window with three check boxes, one button and a picture of the desktop with one radio button in each corner.
The three check boxes are:
• Show CD icon in menu bar - check this if you want the 'CD' icon to be displayed in the menu bar.
• Auto Play - if you want the CD to start playing at once when you insert it into the drive, this box should be checked.
• Show icon at startup - this should be checked if you want the CD Menu icon to be displayed during startup.
The "About…" button brings up a dialog box with some information about the program.
The four radio buttons in the corners of the desktop picture indicate where you should click in order to bring up the CD Menu.

This program has been tested thoroughly only on a Macintosh Classic II equipped with an AppleCD 150, I can therefore not guarantee it to work on other systems. If you use another setup, I would appreciate if you could tell me how it works.
Also, I cannot be held responsible for any data loss or other system damage due to this program. Use this software at your own risk!!
Known incompatibilities:
I haven't discovered any, except that the volume control doesn't work with the Apple PowerCD. I think that this CD player doesn't have the ability to control the volume by software.
